Everything is possible

When the idea of INNO TAPE came into Thomas Weiser`s head in 2000, he had a clear vision: to be a specialist in tape converting!

Even then, there were converters – quite good ones, in fact. But they were all hanging on somewhere. They were part of a trading company or an adhesive tape manufacturer, no one was exclusively concerned with converting. For him, it was clear: There must be something else!

THIS WILL NEVER WORK!

A sentence he did not hear only once ...

His environment saw it differently: "It will never work out the way you imagine it. It won't work at all!" But he was not dissuaded from his vision - the fire was kindled and the idea became more concrete.

"My grandma always said "everything is possible if you really want it." That's what shaped me, that's my DNA. I didn't care about the doubts of others, because I knew it HAD to work." Always by his side: his family and close friends.

"My wife Anuschka and my children had to put a lot on the back burner, but they always supported me. Just like my good friend Matthias Ronge. They were all very important to me in the start-up phase."

RAISING MONEY FOR AN IDEA THAT NO ONE UNDERSTANDS

The idea existed, the motivation was huge, but already the biggest challenge arose: Raising money for it. The problem was that no one understood what he was up to.

"I wanted to set up a production company. Not a distributor, not an engineering company, not a kiosk, but I wanted to develop a supplier and for that I simply needed money. We needed machines, we needed materials. We just needed everything you need for a manufacturing business. By nature, I am not someone who hoards Swiss bank accounts somewhere. I had a young family at home, and I didn`t have money piling up in the basement somewhere."

But as luck would have it, that one evening came at “Meines Saal” in Almstedt. Thomas was sitting at the bar having a beer with his buddy Matthias Ronge – celebrating his wife Anuschka`s 30th birthday. In the course of the evening, Thomas told him about his idea. And lo and behold, he was convinced! He wanted to invest and that wasn`t enough, because he had a hall free next to his own production building - in Alfeld.

So things finally started to move forward, the pieces of the puzzle fell into place and on 03.07.2006 INNO TAPE GmbH was founded. Many were enthusiastic and promised Thomas cooperation and orders. But things turned out differently than expected ...

SUDDENLY ALL THE PROMISES WERE
JUST EMPTY WORDS ....

No sooner the company was founded and the first few months had passed, than the reality set in. All the initial promises in talks and the positive reactions to the foundation vanished into thin air. People who had been counted on, who wanted to work with INNO TAPE, withdrew. For Thomas, a slap in the face. "I don`t know anything like that. If I say were going to do it, were going to do it. But there were many, many people who had said exactly that and then they stopped answering the phone."

So now it was all the more a matter of rolling up our sleeves, getting down to business and pushing forward! And that`s exactly what happened.

"That was an exciting but also exhausting time. Everything had to happen at the same time. Because even the company was founded, money still had to be raised in addition to the work in order to to be able to keep it going in the end. And by work I mean: visiting customers, building up business, developing solutions for customers, and standing at the plant and producing." But all that effort was be worth it.

Where the journey led

Today, INNO TAPE has more than 140 employees, the office space is 20 times larger and the production area almost 10 times larger than at the beginning. Thomas is proud of what has been created here in Alfeld. However, he takes himself very much back in this development.

"I am the founder and am certainly the driver. I also enjoy doing that very much, but I personally am not that important. The company is important and especially the people who work in these companies – that`s what`s important to me, that`s what makes it so valuable. The people here make it what it is: authentic and, above all, unique.

... and it is far from over!

Today, he is still fascinated and motivated by the growing possibilities of adhesive tape, but one decisive factor has been added.

"For me, it`s like this: I`m incredibly proud to be able to lead this team and witness the passion and, above all, the attention to detail with which people work here and the team develops. Being able to witness this and ultimately help shape it has become my greatest motivation. I am very grateful for this and I am sure that we still have an exciting road ahead of us. Because even today I would say: "There`s still a lot more to do!
